A Different Way to Calm Your Horse & Increase Focus - with ForeCalm Powder or Paste
ForeCalm™ Powder includes the same main ingredients as the paste, however it is intended for horses that need a bit more help coping with nervousness or anxiety on a daily or ongoing basis. The additional ingredients of Raspberry Leaf Powder, Chamomile Powder and Passion Flower work synergistically to boost the horse's overall mood, minimize depression, and significantly reduce physical and mental stress. ForeCalm™ Powder has been shown to be exceptionally helpful for challenging or moody mares.
ForeCalm™ Powder requires no loading dose and results can be seen in a matter of days. Use ForeCalm™ Powder on moody mares and horses suffering from chronic stress, anxiety or depression. It is ideal for young horses, hot horses or horses prone to panic and spooking. Each 2 lb canister yields 60 daily servings.
NOTE: ForeCalm™ powder contains Chamomile and Passion Flower which in some disciplines may be considered a banned substance. Please check with your disciplines governing body regarding their acceptance of Chamomile Powder and Passion Flower. If it is an issue, we recommend switching to ForeCalm Paste at least 72 hours prior to those events.
ForeCalm Powder or Paste is not recommended for Pregnant Mares due to it's passion flower ingredient (powder) and the tryptophan content (both forms).
ForeCalm™ Powder - the Same Ingredients as ForeCalm™ Paste (below) + these All-natural, Active Ingredients:
Raspberry Leaf Powder - This herb is loaded with nutrients including citric acid, pectin (fiber), tannins, carotenoids and vitamins A, B complex, C, D and E. Raspberry Leaf also contains calcium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, and sulfur. This herb has been used since ancient times by women during pregnancy to help alleviate sickness, nausea, and diarrhea. It is also known to help regulate the menstrual cycle and alleviate cramps. In horses Raspberry Leaf can help regulate hormonal swings commonly exhibited by a number of mares. It also has the added benefit of strengthening the uterus and may aid in fertility, pregnancy, and foaling.
Chamomile Powder - High in phosphorus and calcium, recent clinical and laboratory research has determined that relaxing Chamomile can significantly decrease anxiety and even fight depression. Clinical results were so profound that the mood changes were termed "clinically meaningful and statistically significant." These studies have established that Chamomile can relieve anxiety, improve mood, and even promote sleep.
Passion Flower - Passion Flower appears to boost the level of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. This compound lowers brain activity, which helps horses relax and settle. The components of plant-based medicines that affect the body are collectively called flavonoids. Passion flower contains numerous flavonoids. Some evidence suggests that the flavonoids of chrysin and benzoflavone may be the primary flavonoids at work in Passion Flower and are the specific flavonoids responsible for decreasing anxiety and reducing panic, as well as helping with better relaxation.
ForeCalm™ Paste - All-natural, Active Ingredients
Magnesium - Magnesium is required for proper nerve and muscle function. Adding magnesium to your horse's diet has proven to have dramatic calming effects. To appreciate how magnesium helps calm horses, it's important to understand what occurs in a horse's body on a cellular level when it has a magnesium deficiency.
Calcium and magnesium work in tandem with one another. Though calcium requires magnesium for proper assimilation, magnesium does not require calcium. Calcium's role is to manage muscle contraction while magnesium manages muscle relaxation or release. When muscle cells are triggered, cell membranes open to allow calcium in and to raise the cell's calcium level. This calcium intake process triggers a chain reaction which is responsible for muscle contraction.
When muscle contraction is satisfied, the magnesium within the cell helps push the calcium back out, which then releases the contraction. This process happens automatically and rapidly due to a body's near constant state of motion. When a cell lacks magnesium, calcium can leak back in. The calcium leak-back reaction causes a stimulatory effect because the muscle is unable to completely relax. This situation can put the body into a continually stressed state. Low magnesium makes nerve endings hypersensitive which can exacerbate pain and noise.
Taurine - Taurine is an amino acid (a building block of protein) critical for proper nerve transmission and muscle function. Taurine assists in nerve impulse generation and stabilizes cell membranes by modifying neurotransmitters. It is also well documented as a preventative to the production of the stress hormone adrenaline.
L-Tryptophan - Tryptophan is an essential amino acid, as well as the pre-cursor of serotonin--a neurotransmitter in the brain. Numerous studies have shown that an increase in this neurotransmitter has been associated with a rise in sleepiness or sedation, in addition to a decrease in overall aggression. As tryptophan is converted to serotonin an increased concentration of tryptophan equates to increased serotonin synthesis. The supplementation of this ingredient for horses allows for an increased plasma concentration of tryptophan. This leads to an increased tryptophan uptake followed by an increased serotonin production in the brain and a more relaxed state.
Suntheanine™ - award-winning, patented ingredient is backed by extensive clinical research demonstrating its ability to reduce stress while improving focus and increasing attention and mental clarity. Suntheanine™ is the original researched and patented form of L-Theanine. Suntheanine™ is absorbed through the intestine and transported directly to the brain where it stimulates the generation of Alpha brain waves.
Thiamine (Vitamin B1) - Vitamin B1, also known as thiamine, was the first B vitamin discovered. Thiamine is commonly referred to as the "anti-stress" vitamin because it strengthens the immune system while improving the body's ability to withstand stressful conditions. Vitamin B1 plays a crucial role in the proper transmission of nerve impulses, allowing horses to feel more focused and at ease.
Organic Hemp Seed - Hemp seed is one of the best sources of Omega fatty acids containing the perfect ratio of Omega fatty acids required by the body. Omega fatty acids aid anxiety and chronic stress sufferers by nourishing and soothing cells. Hemp seed is nutrient dense and contains a high concentration of healthy fat. Hemp Seeds are a complete protein, plus they contain an extensive list of vitamins and minerals including magnesium, amino acids, B vitamins, vitamin E, zinc, and iron. We use only organic hemp powder and oil to ensure that your horse is getting the highest quality hemp seed available.
