This is a new topic for the Resource Library and one that is critically important.
Your horse's food supply is very likely contaminated with a vast variety of pesticides and herbicides. One of the most prominent is glyphosate, from the product known as "RoundUp." On the surface, this sounds like a good thing. After all, it allows farmers to spray against damaging weeds without harming the crop. But, the chemical does, in fact, get into the crop and your horse consumes it.
There is much research on this topic and the results are conflicting. But the studies that offer warnings cannot be ignored. In my experience, I have worked with horses who just can't seem to get healthy. And when the diet is made "cleaner" by removing glyphosate-containing feeds, the horse improves.
It is worth looking at, not only for your horse, but for you and your family as well.
